orange and blue are good and bad, they complimentary colors, which means they oppose each other... but also complimentary color are very contrasting. try to test it...

well if you only need improvements on your buttons, etc, for your theme, then it would be faster to create or improve. 1 day would be enough.

Hmm... I am not sure about orange though because it seem like too BA. But if you really want orange maybe we can go for orange, red, and black. This we don't have to worry about the contrast problem like Ivan said. He does have a point. It can get pretty ugly if you put two contrast color together without play around with their shade and stuffs like that.

To save the hassel of recreating the icon, should we stick to blue and black? I think the current forum color is pretty good. So what do you guys think?

hmmm maybe one major change should be the color of the skins. if people are bother in the colors of the buttons then we could change that but if not, stick to it. hmm maybe you should have a poll on all possible colors of the forum's skin so people may choose what they want.

There's this soft olive colour out there...it's supposed to be real soft on the eyes. Might not suit a bleach forum.

Another colour could be navy (sorry if it seems a bit dull, but it can be spruced up).
